This shoot was planned as a practice session in collaboration with my friend Claudia from Claudia Guy Photography. She wanted to practice off camera flash, and night photography. It turned out to be interesting, because the Badger’s were playing that night before winning and going on to the Final Four in March Madness. Anyone who knows anything about Madison WI or Wisconsin in general, knows that we love sports and we love beer. State street bars were packed full and cheering could be heard for miles.
My off camera flash didn’t end up working, so I just experimented with ambient and available lights. I am quite pleased with the results, and if anyone is interested in booking for nighttime downtown photography sessions, please let me know!
Lisa & Terence work with Claudia’s husband, and neither are from Wisconsin. They are both a lot of fun to hang out with though!
I found out that Lisa used to listen to Adventures in Odyssey on the radio when she was little. I also grew up listening to that show. She said her parents took her to Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs when she was small. I lived in Colorado Springs for one year. It’s so interesting to find out tidbits of information that you may have in common with people that you barely know.
We ended the evening with dinner at Cooper’s Tavern, and I highly recommend the Cooper Burger. We also lit paper lanterns on a rooftop, which sounds like a fabulous idea, until you try it, and suddenly you’d rather be anywhere than on a rooftop watching a burning lantern fly away while hoping it doesn’t hit a tree and start a fire. No fires were started, so enjoy the photos from our Downtown Madison WI photography shoot.
