This beautiful couple found me on Thumbtack. We set up a phone call and discussed what exactly they were looking for.
I asked if Ray had proposed to her, and they said quite honestly that they were just like hey lets get married! They wanted something totally simple and photos around the downtown Chicago area. They wanted to use the photos for their christmas cards, and weren’t planning on telling anyone about it until after the fact. To me, that makes perfect sense and is such a beautiful love story.
The plan was to meet at their hotel and uber together to the Cook County Courthouse. At the last minute they had to change to the Public Library, because the courthouse was closed in honor of Veterans day. They chose an aisle in the fiction section of the Public Library in Chicago to exchange vows, rings and have their first kiss!
After the officiant left, we took a few more photos in the aisles of books. Then we ventured to a park with the city skyline and you could also see part of Navy Pier. Oh and I forgot that it was SNOWING. It was super pretty, but a lot colder than we anticipated.
We took a few more photos in their hotel room as they watched tv, and then they asked me to eat lunch with them at Gibson’s Steak. Great food! They were a really cool couple to hang out with for a few hours and I’m so happy that they found each other in this crazy world. They drove to Iowa that night for a concert, but kind of like a reception. Such a unique elopement to photograph and I would absolutely LOVE to photograph more unique, not unique &/or intimate elopements in the future!
Enjoy the photos I have captured!
