Kim & Tyler are finally married! They met in January of 2008, fell in love in July of 2008 and in December of 2014 Tyler asked her to marry him and Kim said yes.
Kim found me on facebook, after their booked photographer cancelled on them (it happens). She was frantic, but luckily I was available for their beautiful June wedding day, and here we are.
Their Natural, somewhat shabby chic & eclectic wedding theme was inspired by summer & nature. They love the look of wood and metals mixed with pops of color. Especially Light blue, and watermelon pinks.
The wedding day began at Kim’s parents house, photographing details, and candids of the girls hanging out. The couple wrote each other sweet letters and they both read them while getting ready. Then I headed to the groom’s house to capture some ring photos and a few details of the guys getting ready/hanging out etc.
Before the ceremony, Tyler & Kim held hands with a door between them. It’s a perfect moment and beautiful photo. The weather was perfect, and the ceremony was held outside by the trees. The couple held off from doing a first kiss until they walked to the end of the aisle. Then they greeted each row from the back to the front instead of having a traditional receiving line. It was a little bit easier to round up family for photos directly after the ceremony.
The reception was held under a huge white tent, with colorful paper lanterns hanging from the roof of the tent. Guests played yard games in the grass next to the tent. There was a beautiful dessert table set up, with mini brownies, cheesecakes, cookies and macaroons. Instead of hitting silverware on glasses to get the couple to kiss, the happy couple developed a trivia game that the DJ played with the guests. Each person that wanted the couple to kiss had to answer a trivia question about the couple’s relationship correctly before the couple would kiss.
I asked Kim what she was looking forward to besides getting married. She said, “the first dance.” They danced to “From the Ground Up” by Dan & Shay.
We couldn’t see an actual sunset, but I ended the night taking some photos of the newlyweds and the pink/purple sky behind them. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Rohde and I wish you many more years of happiness! You can also view their sweet engagement session & story here.
