I’ve known Derek my entire life, he is the older brother to my favorite cousin. So when he asked me if I was available on November 7, 2015 to photograph his & Kate’s wedding, how could I say no?
Especially being held in the gorgeous Chapel of Concordia University in Milwaukee.
Their wedding day was truly special. Kate’s dress was seriously gorgeous too. The theme was midnight blue with shades of brown, inspired by Derek’s favorite color & Kate’s awesome design insights. They had lego people in the bouquets and boutonnieres, super creative!
They decided to not see each other until Kate was walking down the aisle. The emotion I captured in both Kate & Derek’s face, was truly priceless!
They danced to their first song say hey – michael fronti which was played by Spotlight DJ’s.
Per the couple, their favorite moment(s) from the wedding: Derek: “seeing Kate walking down the aisle.” Kate: “I loved every moment of the day. Walking with my mom down the aisle. Walking toward Derek and seeing him cry like a baby. Ok, I cried worse. Getting ready, my flowers, our dance at the reception. The chapel was so pretty.”
Their wedding planning advice to other couples: “Calm the H down. It’s not a tragedy if someone wears jewelry you don’t like. Your bridesmaids are not your servants, the day isn’t all about you (the bride) it’s about both of you and your guests. Be organized. I got a binder and put everything in it wedding related. I put all due dates on a chart and in my calendar so payments went out on time. I put all phone numbers together so venue could contact dj if needed. Include the groom in planning. Include people who offer. If it stops being fun, then you’re not doing it right.”
