Andrea came to WI from Venezuela to be an Au Pair. Aaron met Andrea at his friend’s wedding, where Andrea was a bridesmaid. Their first date was a Buck’s game, and Aaron said he loved Andrea’s enthusiasm.
The first time I met the two of them was a cold, windy Saturday in February. Valentine’s day to be exact. They asked me if I had special plans to celebrate, and I mentioned having a first date. Andrea said “We wish our good luck on you!”. I’m still with Mark, he’s the love of my life and helps me shoot weddings too! He also helped me with the Kleman’s wedding, because it seemed right. ;)
They were married in a secluded, woodsy area on Aaron’s parent’s potato farm in Stevens Point. A lot of Andrea’s family was able to travel for the wedding. The groom’s sister officiated, and held a 13 coin ceremony. This is a tradition usually associated with hispanic families. The groom gives 13 coins to the bride, symbolizing that the Groom recognizes his responsibility as a provider, and pledges his ability to support and care for her. Acceptance by the bride means taking that trust and confidence unconditionally with total dedication and prudence. The coins are then kept as a family heirloom.
Later in the evening, they had a Venezuelan tradition called “The crazy hour”, or “La Hora Loca”. People wear masks with beads and feathers, wigs or playful hats and proceed to dance the night away.
