Backyard weddings are a very intimate affair. I feel as a photographer being invited into the family’s home and yard gives me a little glimpse of their normal life that one wouldn’t normally see if the wedding was held at a venue. I am honored to have been asked to photograph Lindsey & Zach’s wedding day.
They met at MATC and Zach proposed to her using an extra boot lace while he was in the army. He tied it in a square knot around her finger, and burned off the edges. (while it was still on her finger!) When Lindsey went to pick out her engagement ring, she chose one with a similar design on the sides like the boot lace. She still has the boot lace ring and of course I had to take photos with it.
They chose to do a first look, before the ceremony. So far, they are the only couple this year that I’ve had choose to do this. Most people choose it to get the majority of formal photos out of the way, however, they chose it to have a special moment alone together before the ceremony. Very romantic if you ask me. :)
Lindsey is very crafty, and created all the decorations, jewelry, boutonnieres, and even made me name tag that says “Photographer”.
Out of all the weddings I’ve shot this summer, theirs had the most rain. It rained when her father walked her out for the ceremony and during the reception it poured. At least rain on the wedding day is considered to bring fertility and good luck to the marriage!
Enjoy the details and moments I captured on the Bornick’s July 2014 Wedding day. To see their day after/engagement photos at Pope Farm click here.
